«s. Le Roi envoie aux trois bonnes failles de Flandre trois députés :Philippe de fVeston, chanoine d ’Yorck, Jean de Cosler, archidiacre d 'East-Reading, et Thomas de Melchebourne, maire de l’étape, pour faire restituerleurs biens aux marchands anglais qui en ont été dépouillés, jusqu’à concur-rence de 6,000 livres sterling.

« To the captains, burgomasters, advocates, « échevins », consuls, trademen (« gens» des meistiers ») and ali the good common of the three good tows of Flanders. Notifi-» cation that the merchants of England hâve complained to the King that at the request» of certains persons of Flanders, who were then of the county of Flanders, of the» council of the court of Flanders, the court granted an arrest against the merchants by» which they were imprisoned and ransoned and lost their goods to the sum of» 6,000 lb., as they say, contrary to their franchises and charter granted by the» captains etc. which garantees them for sixty days to leave Flanders in case of injury» of war, without any hindrance, wherefore the said merchants hâve besought the» King to provide a remedy, and the King after deliberation whit the council has» appointed sir Philip de Weston, canon of Sint Peters York, John Castre d , archdeacon» of the East-Riding, and Thomas de Melchelburn, mayor of the staple, to go to the» captains etc. wilh full power to sue for damages to the said merchants, wherefore the» King requests the captains etc. to hear the plaint of the merchants and after enquiry» made to cause the complément of justice to be done to them, giving the said clerks» and mayor their assistance and counsel.
