Die rothe Aloe, welche nach einigen eine Va-rietät der durchwachsenen Aloe ist, unterscheidet

sich von dieser durch ihre schmalen, dornigenBlätter und ihre rothen Blumen, und ist ihr sonstmehr oder weniger eam ähnlich. Sie führt ihrenNamen nach der Insel Sukotra oder Sokolorah, nichtweit von Java, an den Küsten des glücklichen Ara-biens. In den Capgegcnden ist sie sehr häufig, sodafs daselbst von dieser Pflanze lebendige Ver zäu-nungen gemacht werden.
