Infiitutio Ordinis .

dicatos, dum Orando Contemplando^ Tuis fubinde funguntur Officiis, tantofacilius & prefentius adimpetrari fuevit in optatum ulque finem per-ducat. Neque fere facium, ut Virtus hominis ulquam plene confident,fi non per Invocationis efficaciam Dei benignitas alpirarit. MultorumIngenium ac Robur enifiim eli ad Vidoriam : Sed quæ non ali j con-tigit unquam quam cui Deus ab alto demifcrit. Si vana vanis hoc p. g.eli Ethnicis Ethnica pugna fiibierit, nihil in ipfis erat, unde Deusalterutri potius annueret & Vidoriam adderet: At nullus tamen un-quam etiam illic invenit, nifi quod propitium numen immilerat. Si vero' piis haud impia, fi fidelibus oportuna devenerit, id eft fi cum im-piis hoftibus fidei, pij Milites nec injuflu Dei concertent : quid obfti-terit quin a piis liabit alma Majellas ? quid, quo minus ipfius ad feGratiam fuorum Caufa vocet & alliciat ? Verum haud lemel evenit, utpriores Impiorum parti dederit : non tamamore profèdo quo pijs prae-ferret impios : quam ut filiorum Errata fic Paternitas immenfà cafti-garet, dum peccantium flagella fiunt, qui tamen Ipfi qualicunquepermiflu deleviunt, non impune fecerint, fi quis finem introlpiciat,quo meritis Condigna rependuntur. Si vero fideles fidelibus adverlen-tur & compugnent (quod Dominus avertat) ibi juftiori Caufe Dei favor(ut alfolet) creditur & Iperatur accedere velle, vel humilius feltem atquefludiofius divinam Opem implorantibus. Sed parcius eli attingendum,quidnam ad hoc an illud agendum feu concedendum Deum urgeat.

It is true indeed that the Infidels and the Irreligious have often-times had 'the Conqueß, but God does not this out of any Love to the Wicked ythat he might exalt them above the Good y but that in his fatherly Affe&ion he maycorrei the many and great Faults of his Children, while they in the mean Time,who are made the Scourges of Sinners, and for a while exercife their Rage andCruelty, as it were by divine Permiffion , come not off unpunißed, if we regardbut their End , where they are rewarded according to their Defert s.
