P. 122, 125. Which probably may not fignify (as the late Glofïàry hath allô inter-preted them) the fitting at the Head of the Table, but that this Knighthad frequently begun the military Exercifes, according to the Senfe of thisTerm in our Records, which contain Prohibitions in divers Reigns ff netc quis torneare , bordeare, jufias facere , aventuras quarere , feu alia faBa« Armorum exercere pr e fumat,” and which in other Records are namedBorderia, Burdeicia Sc Burdecia, derived from the French Word Behourder,Bohorder, or Border.

To the Obfervation of this learned Jefiiit touching the Attendance ofLadies at Tilts and Turnaments, (which this Editor had remarked in p. 5)2)it would be very eafy to add the Formularies, in which the Challengersgave out their Cartells with Regard to Ladies, and promifed that theywould not quit the Devifes or Emprifcs they then wore, till they had ho-nourably difcharged fuch military Vows, and at the appointed Time ap-peared within the Lifts in the Liveries of thefe Ladies celebrated for theirBeauty and Vertue.
