II. ‘It is Our Royal will, and We hereby command, that Our Blanc‘ Coursier Herald shall procure the Arms of the several Grand Crosses, Com-‘ manders, and Knights; and, pursuant to the xxvith Article of the Statutes‘ of the Order, cause the same to be suspended or placed, as well in the Church‘ of the Palace at Hanover, as in the ancient Hall of Knights within Our‘ Palace there. The sizes of these Armorial Escocheons shall be different,‘ and proportionate with the different degrees of the Order. If the Knight be‘ a Military person, his Arms as Grand Cross, Commander, or Knight, shall‘ be placed upon the copper-plate, within a sky-blue circle, surrounded by a‘ wreath of laurel, with the Motto of the Order, nec aspera terrent, in* letters of gold, thereon ; and the Arms of the Civil Grand Crosses, Com-‘ manders, and Knights shall be placed in like manner within the said Circle‘ and Motto, but surrounded by a wreath of oak. Beneath the Arms shall‘ be engraven the name and rank of such Grand Cross, Commander, or Knight,‘ as well as the date of his reception into the Order; in order that a lasting‘ memorial of his distinguished merit and services may descend to posterity.‘ And We hereby further command Our Blanc Coursier Herald to collect‘ illuminated drawings of such Arms in Books to be appropriated for that‘ purpose, and to deliver the same to Our Chancellor of the Order, to be‘ preserved amongst the archives thereof.
III. ‘ As a further particular distinction of those persons whom We have‘ received into the Order, or on whom We may hereafter be pleased to confer‘ the same, We do hereby grant to Our Grand Crosses the privilege to bear‘ and use, on their seals and otherwise, at all times and on every occasion,‘ their Arms within the said Circle, Motto, and Wreath, surrounded with the‘ Collar of the Order, and the Ensign of the Order pendent therefrom; and‘ We permit the Grand Crosses to place the said Collar upon their portraits,‘ furniture, and monuments.
‘ It shall, in like manner, be permitted to the Commanders and Knights to‘ bear their Arms within the said Circle, Motto, and Wreath, with the Ensign‘ pendent therefrom, as We have appointed by the drawings hereunto annexed.
‘ In witness whereof We have with Our own Hand subscribed these present‘ Statutes, and caused Our Great Seal of the Order to be appended thereto.
‘ Done at Carlton House, the 12th of August 1815.
