ORDER OF SAINT PATRICK.

Ulster King of Arms, with the Collar on a Blue Velvet Cushion.

On arriving at the Table, Ulster made his reverence, and, kneeling, delivered to His Majesty theCollar on the Cushion. Usher, the Genealogist, and Secretary, then went to the front of the Stall ofthe Proxy of His Royal Highness the Duke of Cumberland, making their reverences to the Sovereign ;they, with the Proxy, then proceeded to the Table, where the Prelate read the Admonition, and theSovereign having commanded the two senior Knights to descend from their Stalls, his Lordship was bythem girt with the Sword, the Mantle being placed on his Lordship’s right arm, who then advanced tothe Throne, and, kneeling, His Majesty placed the Collar also on his Lordship’s right arm; he wasthen re-conducted to his Stall, making his reverence to the Sovereign, and standing with his hat on,the Uninstalled Knights standing up at the same time, the senior Esquire unfurled the Banner, andUlster, after a flourish of Trumpets, proclaimed the style of His Royal Highness, as follows :

' The Most High, Most Puissant, and Most Illustrious Prince Ernest Augustus, Duke of Cumberlandand Tiviotdale, Earl of Armagh, Brother to our Most Gracious Sovereign Lord, King George theFourth, Principal Knight Companion of the Most Illustrious Order of Saint Patrick.’

All then sat down, except the Officers of Arms and the Esquires, who went to the Altar with theBanner; the principal Esquire presented the Offering, in a purse, to the Register, who placed it onthe Altar, and Ulster having received the Banner from the Esquire, delivered it to the Register, whoplaced it within the rails; after which, the Esquires, &c. with reverences to the Altar and theSovereign, returned to their places.

Ulster, with the Officers of Arms, &c. then proceeded to the Chapter Room, and returned with theInsignia of the Marquess of Donegal; and, being arrived at the Table, the Usher, Genealogist, andSecretary, went to the front of the Stall of the Marquess of Donegal, and returned to the Table withhis Lordship and his Esquires, making their reverences to the Altar and to the Sovereign, who thencommanded the two junior Installed Knights to descend from their Stalls; and, the Marquess kneelingat the Table, the Prelate read the Admonition, and his Lordship was by them Invested with the Swordand Mantle; then, kneeling before the Throne, he was Invested by the Sovereign with the Collar, andhad the honour thereupon of kissing His Majesty’s hand. He was then reconducted to his Stall, andhaving made his reverence to the Sovereign, the senior Esquire unfurled the Banner, and Ulster pro-claimed his Lordship’s Style as follows:

‘ The Most Honourable and Puissant Prince Sir George Augustus Chichester, Marquess and Earl ofDonegal, Earl of Belfast, Viscount Chichester, Baron Belfast, and Baron Fisherwick, Knight Com-panion of the Most Illustrious Order of Saint Patrick.’

The other Knights were then Installed, with similar Ceremonies, with the Proclamations of theirrespective Styles, as follows :

‘ The Most Noble and Puissant Lord Sir Charles Chetwynd Talbot, Earl Talbot and ViscountIngestrie, Lord Lieutenant General and General Governor of Ireland, Knight Companion of the MostIllustrious Order of Saint Patrick.’

‘ The Most Noble and Puissant Lord Sir Dupre Alexander, Earl of Caledon, Viscount Alexander andBaron Caledon, Knigbt Companion of the Most Illustrious Order of Saint Patrick.’

* The Most Noble and Puissant Lord Sir James Butler, Earl of Ormonde and Ossory, ViscountThurles and Baron Ormonde, Hereditary Grand Butler of Ireland, Knight Companion of the MostIllustrious Order of Saint Patrick.’

‘ The Most Noble and Puissant Lord Sir John Chambre Brabazon, Earl of Meath and Baron Ardee,Knight Companion of the Most Illustrious Order of Saint Patrick.’

‘ The Most Noble and Puissant Lord Sir Arthur James Plunkett, Earl of Fingal and Baron Killeen,Knight Companion of the Most Illustrious Order of Saint Patrick.’

‘ The Most Noble and Puissant Lord Sir James George Stopford, Earl of Courtown, Baron Courtownand Baron Saltersford, Knight Companion of the Most Illustrious Order of Saint Patrick.’

‘ The Most Noble and Puissant Lord Sir Robert Jocelyn, Earl of Roden, Viscount Jocelyn, BaronNewport and Baron Clanbrassil, Knight Companion of the Most Illustrious Order of Saint Patrick.’
