No other duties are assigned to the Genealogist,by the Statutes, than the custody of the Certificatesof the Pedigrees of the Knights; 3 but as the Addi-tional Statute of the 17th of May 1833, directs thatthose Certificates shall be deposited among the Ar-chives of the Order, 4 it is difficult even to surmisein what his functions consist, unless he is still to havethe custody of the Certificates of the Pedigrees of theEsquires, which are not mentioned in the Statute justreferred to.

The Genealogist has no salary; and his Fees are£25 at the Investiture, and ,£25 at the Installationof each Knight. His Mantle and Badge are preciselythe same as those of the Secretary; and he has alsoa Surcoat of white silk. 5
