OU DE HOOFT POU RT, ROTTERDAM.

THE city of Rotterdam is built nearly in the form of anobtuse angled triangle, the base of which is formed by theBoom Quay, one of the noblest quays in Europe, and which iswashed by the Meuse. The principal entrances to the canalsand streets of the city, are the old and new Head Gates, situated, respectively, at the eastern and western extremitiesof the Boom Quay. The former of these gates forms thesubject of the annexed view. It is a scene of constant bustleand activity : boats and vessels from every part of Holland, the Meuse and the Rhine are perpetually arriving at, or leavingthe city.
