*Beamish, William B., um 1810 geboren und in Edinburg 1836 zumDoctor med. promovirt, war zuerst daselbst und in Dublin als Hospitalassistentthätig nnd liess sich dann in Cork nieder. wo er jetzt noch lebt. Eine AnzahlAemter, die er hier an verschiedenen Heilanstalten inne hatte, vertauschte er inspäteren Jahren mit Inspeetions- und Ehrenstellen. — Seine schriftstellerischenArbeiten fallen in eine frühere Zeit, so: „On the pathology, preveation andtreatment of asiatic cholera with cases — epidemica of 1849—1853—1866" —„ Treatment of asiatic cholera" (1849) — „An essay of the continned feverof this country". Beai'd, George Miller B., war am 8. Mai 1839 zu Montville (Con-necticut) geboren und hatte seine Studien 1862 am Yale College beendet. In dasCollege of Physicians and surgeons zu New York trat er 1866 ein und publicirtezuerst in demselben Jahre: „Electricity as a tonic", dann verschiedene mehrpopuläre Schriften: „Our home physician" (1869) •— „Kating and drinking",sowie „Stimulanis and narcotics" (1871). Die meiste Beachtung unter seinenSchriften fanden „Medical and surgical electricity" (1875 mit A. D. Rockwell
