Tinctuka Lauri Cinnajiomi. See Tinct. Cinnamosii.Tinctura Lobelia. New. Take gij of lobelia inflata, Oj ofdilute alcohol, digest for 10 days, and filter. It is expectorant,diuretic, or emetic, according to the dose; 5 j to 5HJ is an emetic foran adult.Or, take Jijss of lobelia inflata, and Oj of spirits of wine, at bead 25 ;digest for a fortnight, and strain. Thirty or forty measured dropsare the usual dose, thrice a day, in asthma, hooping-cough, chorea,delirium tremens, &c. (Dr. Andrew, of Glasgow.)

Tinctuka Lupulimg. New. Tincture of Lupuline. Take gj oflupuline, bruised, Jij of alcohol; digest in a close vessel for six days,press out the liquor, filter and add q. s. of alcohol to make ^iij of thetincture.Medicinally, it is given in doses of *,j to Jij to quiet excessive irri-tability and procure sleep, in chronic dyspepsia, delirium tremens,hepatitis, &c. It does not cause costiveness, like opium, nor affectthe liver and head like it. (Dr. Ives.)

Tinctura Mosciii. D. Tincture of Musk. Take 51J of musk re-duced to powder, Oj of rectified spirit, make a tincture, and give indoses of 5j to 3SS, as an antispasmodic stimulant.

Tinctura Muriatis Ferri. See Tinct, Ferri Muriat.

Tinctura Muriatis Ferri cum Oxydo Rubro. D. Tincture ofMuriate of Iron, with the Red Oxide. Take 5J of red oxide ofiron, giv of muriatic acid, q. s. of rectified spirit; digest the oxidewith the acid for 24 hours, then boil for half an hour; evaporate thefiltered liquor to the thickness of syrup, add the spirit to it whencold, shake it frequently, till the specific gravity is 1050.Medicinally it may be given in doses of m_x to 1)^x1 or more, in thesame cases as the tincture of muriate of iron.

Tinctura Myrrhs. L. F. D. Tincture of Myrrh. Take giv ofmyrrh, bruised, Oiij of rectified spirit; digest for 14 days, and filter.This is improved in this new edition of the London Pharmacopoeia,being brighter and better than the old one.Internally it is given as a tonic and deobstruent, in doses of Jss to ^j.Externally it is much used in gargles and lotions, with tincture ofbark, infusion of roses, and acids, for spongy gums, sanious ulcers,and necrotic and exfoliating bones.

Tinctura Nucis Vomica. D. Tincture of Nux Vomica. Take jijof the shavings of the fruit of the strychnos mix vomica, jjviij ofrectified spirit, macerate for seven days, and strain.Medicinally the dose is i!\v to Tll.xx, as a nervine and narcotic.
