Spiritus Juniperi Compositus. L. E. D. Compound Spirit of Ju-niper. Take ftj of juniper-berries, bruised, gjss eacb of earaway-seeds and fennel-seeds, bruised, a gallon of proof spirit, and q. s. ofwater to prevent empyreuma; digest for 24 hours, and distil onegallon with a gentle heat.
Medicinally it is stimulant, carminative, and diuretic, in doses of ^j to5SS as an adjuvant to diuretic medicines, in dropsy, &c.
Spiritus Lavandulae. L. E. D. Spirit of Lavender. Take ibij offresh lavender-flowers, a gallon of rectified spirit, and q. s. of waterto prevent empyreuma; digest for 24 hours, and distil one gallonwith a gentle heat.
Medicinally it is prescribed as a stimulant and antispasmodic, for hys-teria and fainting, in doses of H|_xxx to 5j ss > on a hit °f lump-sugar.Enters into Liniment. Camphorse Comp. L. Spir. Lavandulae Comp.L. £. D.
Spiritus Lavandula Compositus. L. E. D. Compound Spirit ofLavender. Take Oiij of spirit of lavender, Oj of spirit of rosemary,§ss each of nutmegs and cinnamon-bark, bruised, and 3J of redsanders-wood, sliced; digest for 14 days, and strain.Medicinally, it is stimulant and cordial, in doses of ll^xx to 5j ss .> ormore, upon a bit of lump-sugar, for faintings, languor, &c. For lowspirits, 5j may be added to a wine-glassful of camphor julep.
Spiritus Mentha Piperita. L. D. Spirit of Peppermint. Take9vjss by weight of oil of peppermint, and Oivss of rectified spirit;add the spirit to the oil, and then pour on q. s. of water to preventempyreuma; distil one gallon with a gentle heat.Medicinally it is stimulant and carminative, in doses of mxxx to Jiijon a bit of sugar, for nervous affections, nausea, flatulence, cardialgia,pyrosis, &c.
Spiritus Mentha Viridis. L. Spirit of Spearmint. Is preparedprecisely like the preceding, and used for the same purposes. SeeCeeme de Menthe.

Spiritus Myristic.e. L. E. Spirit of Nutmeg. Spir. nucis mos-chaice. D. Take Jij of bruised nutmegs, a gallon of proof spirit,and q. s. of water to prevent empyreuma ; digest for 24 hours, anddistil one gallon with a gentle heat.Medicinally it is stimulant, carminative, and stomachic, in doses of jjto $iv in nervous languor, and as a corrective of purgatives whichare apt to gripe.
Spiritus Pimentje. L. E. D. Spirit of Pimenta. Take gij of pimentaberries, bruised, a gallon of proof spirit, and q. s. of water to preventempyreuma ; digest for 24 hours, and distil a gallon with a slow fire.
