Linimentum Campiiorje Compositum. L. D. Compound CamphorLiniment. Take jij of camphor, Jvj of solution of ammonia, Oj ofspirit of lavender; mix the ammonia with the lavender, distil by agentle heat Oj out of a glass retort, in which dissolve the camphor.To save the trouble of distilling, rectified spirit of wine may be used,but it is expensive.Incompatible with all acids, and with water.

Medicinally it is a very elegant and excellent stimulant applied uponflannel in local gout and rheumatism. It is not greasy like theother liniments, but it sometimes induces erysipelas.

Linimentum Depilatorium. Take 3j of quicklime, 3j of orpiment,a sufficient quantity of white of egg; mix, and apply to parts whenceit is wished to remove hairs ; but it is hazardous.

Linimentum Elemi. Take gvj of compound ointment of elemi, gxij ofolive oil; mix, and apply to blistered surfaces to keep up the dis-charge, or to the tarsi in ophthalmia.

Linimentum Hydrargyri. L. Mercurial Liniment. Take Jiv eachof strong mercurial ointment and prepared lard, 3J of camphor, in_xvof rectified spirit, Jiv of solution of ammonia ; rub the camphor firstwith the spirit, then with the lard and the ointment, and graduallyadd the solution of ammonia.Medicinally it frequently excites ptyalism sooner than the mercurialointment, probably from the stimulus of tbe camphor and ammonia.A drachm may be rubbed in night and morning on swelled glands,Syphilitic tophi, nodes, &c. The hand, when rubbing it in, shouldbe defended with oilskin.

Linimentum Hydrargyri Ammoniatum. Take 3J each of strongmercurial ointment and prepared lard, 31J of camphor, Jiv of solu-tion of ammonia; mix, and apply in venereal nodes, and to thetemporal bone in some cases of deafness.

Linimentum Hydrargyri Nitratis. Take 31J each of ointment ofnitrate of mercury and olive oil, 11l_xx of oil of petroleum; mix, andapply in tinea, ringworm, psorophthalmia, &c. It is an excellentapplication for indolent ophthalmic inflammation.

Linimentum Iodini. Iodine Liniment. Mix gr. viij to gr. x of iodinewith 5j of the compound liniment of soap.

Linimentum Opii. Liniment of Opium. Anodyne balsam. Take gjssof compound liniment of soaji, gss of tincture of opium; mix, andapply for bruises and rheumatic pains.
