AFTER a Phyfician is fuppliedwith neceflary Remedies,there is required fome Care and Con-federation to manage them to thebeft advantage, both fortheEafeofthe Patient, and anfweringhis Inten-tions in Cure.

In all chronic Cafes, Medicinesare to be contriv'd as near to a Dietas can be ; and therefore the com-mon Drinks and Foods are to bemedicated as far as they will admitit, and the Cafe requires. What me-dicinal Forms are requifite, mouldbe both the mod convenient fortaking, and order'd at times beftfuiting to the Condition of living,and Conveniency of the Patient..?///;therefore, Electuaries, Tinclures, oc£lixirs, are the moil likely Forms,becaufe they will keep, and may beft) order'd in taking, as to be of verylittle trouble ; whereas Boles orDraughts, where there is a longContinuance required, make fuch aformidable Shew, that very few willhave patience to go thro* the Courfe.Butin acute Cafes, which are ge-nerally dangerous, there is requiredno fuch regard ; but all Afllftancesmuft be called in that can be had,according to the Exigency of theCafe. And as Medicines of efficacyare concerned herein, they are moftfafely diftributed into Bales, orDraughts, that the Patient may notbe trufted to guefs-work, but the

Here noregard, or very little, is to be hadto Diet, but how to fet all the Helpsto co-operate together, Co that theyinterfere not with each other. Thusa Bole, or a Powder, may be givenevery 3, 4, or 6 hours, with aDraught, Julep, or any other liquidForm after it 5 and in this may bodropped Spirits, Tinitures, ç?c. ofthe like Intention, and alfo into theircommon Drink. The Night Dofes,or others if neceflary, may be join'dwith an Opiate. And in the Inter-vals, where the Aggravations ofSymptoms require, may be repeatedthe Julep, with fuitable Drops, asufual. Externals may be order'd atthe fame time as neceíTary j and ifBlifters, becaufe they often occauomStranguries, and Heat of Urine, E-muliions, notwithftanding all thathas been given before, may come infor a common Drink.

But the moft: general and nece£fary Rule in all Cafes, is toanfwerthe End by as few Medicines as pof-fible, and never to make a Cureworfe than the Difeafe. And fachPractice will always procure the beftReputation amongft thofe whofeApplaufe .is moft valuable, and beftfupport the Dignity of the Profef-fion, and fecure the Satisfa&ion o£a good Confcience.
