Many are of opinion, that Steelought not to be given with Cathar-tics, becaufe they deftroy its effi-cacy ; but fuch confider not the diffe-rent Intentions to be obtain'd by thisone Ingredient : when it is givenamong Refloratives, to warm andraife the Blood, they are certainly inthe right ; but when it is intended toopen Obftructions, for which it isvery effectual, and to cleanfethe Vif-cera, then Aloes, and fuch deterfiveCathartics, are very conducive there-unto, and aflift it in fcouring off theloulnefles there lodged. This Com-pofition, as many before likewife ofthe fame kind, is judiciouily con-triv'd to. open all manner of Ob-ftructions in the larger PafTages ;and therefore helps in the Spleen,Hyfterical Diforders, and promotesthe Menfes. Dofe 4 or 5 everynight going to bed.

Thefe are much like the forego-ing, but milder ; and therefore maybe more Amable to fuch with whomCathartics may not ib well agree.They may be taken twice in a day,3 or 4 to a Dofe.

* 9 iv. Tincture of Myrrh, q. f.'In all hypochondriacal Diforders,
and thofe alfo call'd Hyfterical, thefeare very fuitable ; and by continu-ance for fome time, i or 3 times ina day, 3 or 4 to a Dole, they willprevail againft the moft obftinateComplaints of this kind. The fol-lowing alfo is calculated for the famepmpofes, by one heretofore of con-fiderable Note in Practice, with theaddition of fome brisk Cathartics,which may not make them fo pro-per for fbme.

Thefe are good in all grofs andfoul Habits inclining to the Jaundiceand Dropfies ; efpecially in ftrongrobuft Conftitutions, which havebeen fpoil'd by Intemperance, anda groß Diet ; to be taken 5 or 6,twice in a day.
