* the under Cruft of three Loaves' of Whcaten-bread, and boil in

* Spring-water lb vi. to ft f. and' at laft put in Cloves, 5 ii. ftrain

* and add Claret, fe i. and fine Loaf-

* Sugar, q. f.'

This is a good Kitchen-Remedy,where recourfe cannot be conveni-ently had to the Shops ; and is ufe-ful in all kinds of Fluxes, as well aswhat its Title exprefles. Of thefame kind is likewife the follow-ing.

Decorum Catechu, A Decoñionof Japan Earth. ' Take Japan Earth,s 5 ii. boil in ft i. of Spring-water

* to § xii. Let it ftand to fubfide,c and having pour'd off the clear,

* add ftrong Cinnamon-water, and

* Syrup of Quinces, ana § ii.*Decoftum Catechu Comp. A

Compound Decoñion o/Japan Earth.' Take Guaiacum, Saflafras, ana

* 5 iii. yellow and red Sanders, ana' 5 ii. Powder of Japan Earth, 5 Cs.' Liquorife, § i. dried Sage, m. i.1 boil in Barley-water, ft iii. to

* J xxx. Strain, and when fettled,

* add to it Diacodium, 5 ii.'

This is not only fitted to flop theDrain of Humours falling too fadupon the Bowels, but alfo to aflifttheir Difcharge by Tranfpiration ;and is good in all fuch kind of Flux-es, and tickling Catarrhs, as occafionCoughs, Diforders of the Bread,and fometimes reach even theJoint-;, and caufe Arthritic andRheumatic Pains. It is direfted tobe given from | ii. to iv. three timesin a Day.

Decoftum Catarrhale, A Decoc-tion againß Catarrhs. ' Take yel-' low and red Sanders, ana 5 ii.« Guaiacum, Saflafras, ana 5 Cs.' Liquorife, 5 ifs. Raifins, J i. boil in' Barley-water, ft iiifs. to ft ii. add-' ing at laft Juice of Hounds-tongue,' J iv. which ftrain for ufe.*

This is not fo good as the fore-going, altho purpofely calculatedfor this Intention : | iv. of it is or-der'd three times a day.

Decoftum ad Rachitidem, AnApozan againß the Rickets. ' Take

* Roots of Polypody of the Oak,

* of Smallage, and Fennel, ana 5 i.' Liquorife and Annifeeds, ana J Cs.' Harts-tongue, Maiden-hair, Dod-' der, Betony, Celandine and Ta-c marisk, ana m. i. blue Currants,c 5 iv. Barley-water, ft iv. Boil to

* the Confumption of half, and then' ftrain for ufe.'

This is to be given three orfour Spoonfuls, as many times in aDay, according to the Age of theChild.

Decoftum Cannabinum, A "De-coñion of Hemp-feed. ' Take Hemp™

* Seed bruis'd, § iii. Agrimony,' Shepherd's Pouch, Plantain, Knot-

* Grafs, ana m. ifs. Boil in ft vi.' to iv. of Water, and fweeten the

* ftrain'd Liquor with fine Loaf-' Sugar.'

This is with fome a Secret, and aSpecific for involuntary piifing ofBlood. The Dofe is from 5 iv. toft Cs. twice in a Day.

Decoftum Incraflans, An Incraf-fating Decoñion. ' Take Gum A-c rabie groíly powder'd, 5 iii. Boil« in Water (carefully ftirring it, that' it burn not to the bottom) from' ft ii. to 1 xxviii. and fweeten it' with Syrup of Marihmallows,« 5 iv.'
