have got a way ofputting in Jamaica Pepper for allthe Spices ; but it is not fo juft tovary from the Recipe, when there isno reafon but for Che.ipnefs, andthe Medicine thereby becomes theworfe ; which it certainly does in thisInftance, becaufe that is a more oilySpice than thofe here order'd, andtherefore cannot make fo good aStomachic. This Medicine is greatlycome into Practice ef late, and verydefervedly ; for it mightily ftreng-thens the Stomach, and will do goodfervice fometimes where Bitters a-vail nothing, efpecially in Relaxati-ons from Debauches and Over-feed-ing. This very well imitates theVirtues of the celebrated Bark, andis properly given in all Intentions,where that is found to fucceed : fothat by its help, Intermittents, andmany Difordersfrom too lax a ftateof the Solids, may be remov'd with amuch lefs quantity of the Bark thanthey might otherwife require. It hasan Influence alfo over many Di-ftempers of the Head to advantage,
