the Aniifceds yielding too foul anOil to fuit it for fuch Purpofes.After the fame manner, omitting theSeeds, may be made the Spirit ofany medicinal Plant whatfoever, thatis thought proper for fuch Manage-ment. This indeed is commonlyulèd in Stomachic Infufions, on a¿uppoiition that it claims a Right tofuch Virtues from the Wormwood ;but the Water rifing from it par-takes not of thofe Qualities whichbelong to it in Tindture ; fo that itfeems only to be carminative fromthe Spice and Seeds now order'd in it.

* maticus, and Elecampane ; of the' Seeds of fweet Fennel and Cori-

* ander, each 5 iii. Cinnamon, Cloves

* and Nutmegs, ana 5 ii. of the

* leffer Cardamoms and Cubebs ana« 5 ii. Cut and bruife the Ingredi-

* ents as they require, and after ibme

* time Infulion of them in ftxii. of' French Brandy, draw off the fame

* quantity by Diftillation.'

This differs from the former inrejecting Liquoriiè Root and Rai-lins, which can have no effeit inDiftillation ; and in allowing agreater proportion of Spirit, andmore to be drawn off; the formerbeing too much loaded with theoily Ingredients, to admit either ofits being fine to the Eye, or grate-ful to the Stomach.Aqua Angelica; magis Compoiita,The greater Comfofition of Ange-lica-Water.

♦ Take of Angelica Root and the' Leaves of Carduus ana 5 vi. of

: Baum and Sage ana | iv. of Ange-1 hca Seeds 1 vi. and of /weet Fennel' Seeds 5 he. Let the dried Herbs' and Seeds be groily bruifed, and' to them add of Cinnamon g ii. of' Cloves and Mace ana 5 iifs. of' Nutmegs and the lcilèr Carda-' mom Seeds, ana 5 i. of Cubebs' and Galangal Root, ana 5 ils. of' Jamaica Pepper and Saffron, ana' 5 i. Infulè them in Cong. ii. of' French Brandy, and draw off as' much by Diftillation.'

This hath rejected the SpeciesDiamojchu Vulcis, and Aromati-cum Rofatttm, that were in the for-mer i one of tholè Comportionsbeing wholly expunged the newDifpeniàtory, and in their room areadded Spices more conveniently an-fwering the läme Intentions. Butin this the Carduus avails nothing,and the facet Fennel Seed is in toogreat a Quantity : which will makethe Water foul and milky. Thelaft Runnings of all the foregoingWaters are worth keeping lêparate,for carminative Juleps, and fuch-like Intentions.

* ana ft ii. Savin m. iii. Feverfew,' Catmint, Pennyroyal, ana m. ii.

* Balil, Dittany of Crete, ana m.' ifs. Orange Peels* iv. Myrrh § ii.' Caftor § i. Spirit of Wine ft viii.

* Diftil as ufuai, after proper Mace-' ration ; for the longer things of' this kind infulè together, the bet-' ter is the Water.'

This Water, if it be drawn quitefo low as common Proof Spirit, theoily Parts of the Ingredients willmake it milky and foul, which fomethrow down with a little burnt A-lum } but that ipoils the Medicine,andtherefore
