Itboth cools and aftringes the Sto-mach; and is often an Ingredient inGargarifms for its deteriive Rough-nefs. If the Fruit hangs until it istoo mellow, it grows more {limy,and is not io good.

5-29. O L i v a, Olives. Thefeare not in the Produce of our ownCountry; but come to us in Vickie,chiefly in Salt-Water. They arevery oily and fmooth; and aretherefore not fb good for the Sto-

mach, being apt to pall and relax ittoo much, as mod things of thelike Properties generally do. It isfrom the fame Fruit we have theOil of Olives, fo much in ufe ; theVirtues of which we fhall confiderin the thirteenth Seclion.

5-30. Rtbesiä Currants .Thefeare of many forts, but the red andwhite only are in ufe, unlets forfome very lingular Purpoies. Forthe black, and chiefly the Leavesupon firit coming out, are us'd byfome to flavour Englifl) Spirit, andcounterfeit "Srench Brandy. The redand white are very agreeably acid,and accounted as wholefome Fruit asany we have of our own Growth.They greatly afluage Drought, cooland fortify the Stomach, and helpDigcftion. They may indeed beeat in too great quantities, other-wife no Harm can be receiv'd from,them.
