•¡z. Matricaria, Feverfew,called alio Farthenium. It flowersin June and July. This is neara-kin to the Mugtoort, but muchmore fetid. It is not of any ulèbut as an Ingredient in the Bryony-Water 5 tho' Schroder mentions itas effectual in all uterine Com-plaints, particularly in Coldnefs andImpotency ; and likewiië lays thatit purges by Urine, and is thereforegood in Dropfies; that it re lifts pu-trid Fevers, is good in the Stone,in Giddinefs, and Pains of the Goyt,outwardly apply'd, and rubbed uponthe Part.

73. Nepet^e, called al fo Men-tha Felina five Cataría, by Gerrard,Catmint. It flowers moft of theSummer Months. This Plant is ofan offenfive Smell, and very littlein ule, unlefs in the Bryony-Water,which is a Compound of little ellebut what has this Quality. It hasaftrib'd to it the fame Virtues prettymuch as Mugwort and Orache.

It is avery warm Pianr, of very fubtileand penetrating Pans, and is there-fore aperitive, difcutient, and car-minative ; but its chief Virtues areabfterging all Impurities fron dieWomb promoting the MenßrualEvacuations, and facilitating theExpulfion of the Fœtus. It is alioof known Efficacy m Fleurijies andthe Jaundice ; as indeed in ail Dif-ordeis anfing nom O 'ftrucl'-ons.It is an excellent Pectoral, and gi-ven with great fiiccefs in Afihma's,and all Difficulties of Bieathing.Some commend its Application out-wardly like wile in Pains of the Head.For its many good Qualities, it hasa place ¡n feveral of the Shop-Me-dicines now in ufe : And for the a-bundance of Oil which comes overwith it, the limpie Water drawnfrom it is very efficacious for manyof the foremention'd Pin poles, tho'fomewhat inferior to a Decoótion,but not fo unpleaiint.
