SYRUPUS PAPAVERIS ALBI.

SYRUP OF THE WHITE PoPPY.

Take of the heads of white Poppies, dried,and the feeds taken out, threepounds and an half.

Double-refined Sugar fix pounds.Diftilled Water eight gallons.

Slice and bruiie the heads, then boil themin the water to three gallons, in a water-bathfaturated with fea-falt, and prefs out the li-quor. Reduce this by boiling to about themeafure of four pints, and flrain it whilfl itis hot, firfl through a fieve, thcn through athin woollen cloth, and fet it afide for twelvehours, that the fosces may fubfide. Boil theliquor, poured off from the fceces, to threepints, and diiiblve the fugar in it that it maybe made a Syrup.
