ter, but Connt Lauragais has fbewn that ten parts ofwater diffolve one of iEther, and that the iEtherwhich fwims on the furface of water. is the furplus,which the water cannot diffolve. 1t is therefore to-be preferved, wtthout water, in a phial, the ftopperof which is ground exaftly to its mouch, and a pieceof bladder tied over it.
Given internally, it is a powerful tonic and anti-fpafmodic in dyfpepfy, hyfteric fpafms, &e. in dofes,from 10 or 12 drops, to 3i or more, on a lump offugar,' — or in fyrup, diluted wich water ; — whichfhould be fwallowed quick, as it exhales with greatcelerity.—Extcrnally it is applied in pains of thehead, teeth, &c.

Spirit of nitrous IEther.
Take of re£tified Spirit of Wine two pints.Nitrous Acid half a pound.
Mix by pouring in the acid to the fpirit,and diftill with a gentle heat one pound tenounces.
