In the diftillation of Amber, the fire muft forfome time be contmued gentle, fcarcely exceedingthe degree at whic'h water boils, tili the aqueousphlegm and thin oil have arifen; afcer which itis to be flowly increafed. ff the fire be urged tophaftily, the Amber will rife in i.ts whole fubftanceinto the receiver, without undergoing the requifirefeparation of its parts. The acid liquor, formerlycalled Jprity is a mere folution of a fmall portionof the falt in phlegm.

The falt is ijfually dried between the folds offpongy paper.

The ojl is given internsdly from üve to eight orten drops in hyflerical fpafms, and applied extcrnal-ly in the tarne diforder,
