This plant is faid to have been known and ufed in Spain"Naples, and Montpellier, long before 1756, about whichti:ne the experiments made with it at Vienna, in calculouscomplaints, excited the gencral attention. Ithas. aopeared alfo to be ierviceable in various diieafes of tueurinary paiiages in which a ftone was not fuTpectid, — in ul-cerations, dyfury, ftrangury,—mucous, purulent, and Woody,urine, &c.—evena fupptefßon ofurine, which had requiredthe introduclian of the catheter for tuore than three months,was cured by UvaUrfi in a few weeks.
