All our care wasnot, however, fo far wafted on this very dif-ficult part of our work as to neglec~l otherthings, oronly touch onthem curlbrily andby chance ; as the compofition of each me-diane was feparately and carefully weighed jin order that if any thing was found defi-cient it might beadded,iftoo much, orredundant, taken away. Nor have wemade any fcruple, in executing this duty,to cutoffwhole formulas when of little ufe,and to infert others more ufeful, in facha manner, however, that no new remedyhas been fondly adopted, no one, in conftantufe and praclice, rejected.
