And this is probably the lastletter written by the Grand Master, De Paul; forhis tombstone says he died on the 7th of the Ides ofJune, 1636; 1 and he must have been succeedednearly immediately by Lascaris, since here is aPapal brief, dated Rome, the 2nd of. July, 1636,congratulating him as already grand master. 2
