Baron Giordan Brisset’sdonation in London, as early as 1100, that inMessina in 1101, and a few others, are given nowat this review of the order, twelve years after itsformation. 1 But most of the documents to becited a little later refer to these years also. OnlyI defer gathering them, till their respective dates.The order was born under Pasqual Second, andhis bull we have. Also two documents of CalixtusSecond, and of Honorius Second. 2 Neither theprudence of Bosio, nor what is called the inspira-tion of Yer tot, are requisite to account for a change inthe order, since change in the order there was none. 3

The King of Arragon calling them to defendSpain in 1131, quite agrees with their beingveteran warriors for thirty-two years before, 4 butnot five or six years; warriors designated as theSanta MiUzia under Baldwin I. 5 The Templars hadnot been yet established in Baldwin I.’s time. 6Other castles to churchmen; but great fortresseswere only given to those who could defend them, andthat taken by Baldwin I., in 1101, was to the Hos-
