8.

The Queen.

12.

The Abbot.

Where is my King my kingdom court?

Once of the Convent was I Prior;

Who fighteth for me, aideth ought?

Now Abbot, Primate, rise I higher.

As Death doth strike, my heart doth bleed.

Go age and honour hand in hand,

Each turneth from me in my need.

Doth ebb the last dread hours sand.

9-

The Bishop.

13-

The Abbess.

A consecrated Bishop, I,

Jesu Maria! What neareth me?

Yet Death cannot, elude thereby.

Death did I not expect to see.

He taketh mitre, breaketh stave,

Must it come now, my final doom,

And casteth me in the cold grave.

To Jesus go I, my bridegroom.

IO.

The Duke.

14.

The poman Count.

Of princely blood, a Duke Sereue,

Of noble rank, and lineage high,

With courage high, and haughty mien;

Imperial Count, His Grace am I.

Still bold and young, of joyous grace,

My grace is gone. Ungracious Death

Death taketh me in his embrace.

Grace thou me not, yet God graceth.

ii.

The Duchess.

is-

The Countess.

A woman fair, my tender frame

Hold Coachman! spare me yet I pray,

I keep, till cruel Death the same

Am not prepared, go not today.

From me doth drive, just as the blast

My lady Countess, Death am I,

The beauteons rose to Earth dolh cast.

Say me no word, avay I hie.
