PLATE XVIII.— THE KING.

JHLje is seen, eating in state, under a canopy, and served by theofficers of the court. Death is come to put himself in the num-ber, and is at this instant performing the office of cupbearer. Heis pouring out drink to the Monarch, wljp holds out to him hi*great cup, which he is now probably to empty for the last time.The Prince holds in his left band a paper, without doubt a peti-iion, that has just been presented to him.
