As theft Officers in their Petition to Hen. 8. fpecify their Exemption fromPayment of Cufioms, fo we find that as low as 1 6 March 162.4, the thenLord Treaforer hy Warrant to the Cuftom-Houfe, ordered two Turns of Wineto he delivered to this Corporation without Impofi y and the Entries in the Par-tition Books affare us, that afterwards the Crown allowed them yearly a Sum,of Money in Lieu thereof: And from the Difference of the Sums we maylearn the Quantity of Wine annually then allowed to Garter for his feparateUfe. Our former Princes extended their Munificence farther in giving theWine it felfout of the Right of Prifage : Thus Adam Derby VsdWmt-Heraldobtained in 1 Hen. VI conferrs a Freedom from all Impoßs in Perpetuity, which is not aSingularity, for there is a Provifo in the Tefi Att 25 Car. II. c. z, that theDifabilities therein enabled, fiali not extend to take away Bills of Impofi jand it feems to be implied that there are fome Perfons fiill entitled to a Free-dom from Cufioms, by the Statute upon the Union 5 Ann xc. 8. Art. 6 . whichby a Claufe particularly referves to the SubjeBs of either Kingdom, their formerprivate Rights of being exempted from Duties upon Export and Import.
