[GENERAL REMARKS.

Thus, the Order of a State, whose population is under two millions ofsouls, contains no less than 259 Knights Grand Cross, 277 Knights Com-manders, and 763 Knights; of whom, however, two-thirds are Foreigners.

As the Statutes are, in many of the articles, no longer consistent with theactual condition of the Order, they will probably be entirely revised.

A single observation remains to be offered, respecting the name by whichthe Order is usually known in England, viz. The Guelphic Order. Itsproper title is The Order of the Guelphs.
