MISCELLANEOUS REMARKS.

[ARMORIAL BEARINGS.

Knights of the Garter have a prescriptive right to Supporters to theirArms ; and a similar privilege must be supposed, from inference and consistency,to belong to the Knights of the Thistle, and of Saint Patrick; but as everyKnight of those Orders has borne Supporters by virtue of his Peerage, noquestion respecting their right to them, as Knights of those Orders, has everarisen. By the Statutes of the Order of the Bath , 6 as well as by those ofSaint Michael and Saint George , 7 the Knights Grand Cross of each are entitledto bear Supporters to their Arms, which are to be assigned to them by GarterKing of Arms, under a Warrant from the Earl Marshal . 8
