Honourable Military Order of the Bath, to be the first Grand Master of thesaid Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, to hold the sameduring the time he shall have and enjoy the said high and important Office ofLord High Commissioner, in and for the said United States of the IonianIslands, with such powers and privileges as shall be for that purpose appointedby the Statutes of the said Order: And whereas it is expedient for the dignityand service of the Order, that there should be Officers peculiarly appropriatedthereto, We do by these presents for Us, Our Heirs and Successors, will andordain, that there shall be for ever hereafter in the said United States of theIonian Islands, and also in the said Island of Malta, respectively, a Prelate ofthe said Order, and there shall further be belonging to the said Order, aRegistrar, King of Arms, and a Secretary, whose respective duties and privi-leges shall be particularly expressed and declared in and by the said Statutes:and We do hereby for Us, Our Heirs and Successors, give and grant full powerand authority to the Grand Master of the said Order for the time being, to con-stitute, nominate, and appoint under the Seal hereby appointed for the said Order,the several Officers abovementioned, and from time to time to fill up the places ofsuch Officers upon vacancies : And lastly, We do hereby for Us, Our Heirs andSuccessors, grant that these Our Letters Patent, or the inrollment, or exemplifi-cation thereof, shall be in and by all things good, firm, valid, sufficient, andeffectual in the law, according to the true intent and meaning thereof, anyomission, defect, or imperfection therein, or other matter, cause, or thing, to thecontrary thereof in any wise notwithstanding. In witness whereof We havecaused these Our Letters to be made Patent. Witness Ourself at Westminster,the 27th day of April, in the fifty-eighth year of Our reign. By Writ of PrivySeal.
