A conciliatory Plan for the Priories of the Lan-guage of Italy.

The Piedmontese knights, who formed thegreatest part of the priory of Lombardy, havingwished to separate themselves from the otherpriories of the Italian language, it was thoughtnecessary to oppose their resolution; and jthoughthe order could not succeed in maintaining asperfect an union as formerly subsisted betweenthe priories of that language, it neverthelesscontrived to preserve it for three very essentialobjects, viz. the dignities, commanderies, and fa-vours, bestowed by the grand-master, such as
