Which includes some trifling sums dispensedannually to a few convents, such as the Capu-chins and Cordeliers the vestments bestowed onall Christians who, having groaned in captivityfor some time, had obtained their liberty fromthe infidels, and w r ere passing through Malta ontheir return to their own country ;—the moneygiven to different poor people for services ren-dered to the orderfourteen hundred crowns,granted to the poor at the Floriana, and six hun-dred salmes of corntogether Avith two thou-sand four hundred and fifty crowns in money,distributed among the poor of the island bycommissioners appointed for that purpose bythe council.
