and after due Reverence, pafs up to the Altar, and jointhe Alms-Knights j though anciently fome difference wasin this Ceremony.

Afterwards, the two Junior Kjiigbts-Companions enter,palfing on till they come near their own Stalls, andthere make their Reverences, and then divide, and taketheir ftands diredtly before their Stalls; and fo of theleft of the Kjiights-Ccmpanions.

Next to the Kjiightt-C amp miens, the Blackcfyd, Gar-ter, and Bpgifler, enter in a Breaft, who, proceeding to themiddle of the Choir, make their Obey lances, and thenpafs to their Form, placed on the South-fide of the Choir,before the Sovereign’s Stall, and ftand before it. Afterthem, the Chancellor and Prelate in the like manner,ftand before their Form, placed near the Sovereigns Seat:And for thefe Forms, whereon the Officers of the Order(it in the Chappel, there is a fpecial Decree for the allow-ance of them, entered at the end of the Conftitutions oftheir Offices.

Laft of all the Sovereign enters, (having the Sword bornbefore him, but his Band ofPenfioners ftay at the ChoirDoor, to keep off the Crowd,) who, coming to the Stepswhich afcend the Royal Seat, makes a Reverence towardthe Altar, and then takes Place therein, before he makesa fecond Reverence.

When the Lieutenant, in the Sovereign’s abfence, pro-ceeds to the firft Vefpers ; as foon as he enters the Choir,and comes near the Sovereign’s Stall, he ftands and makesa little paufe there ; then doing his Reverences, after hehas again ftood a while, before he afcends his own ;where being arrived, he makes the double Reverence afecond time, and then (its down.

And now to placing the Kjiights-Companions in theirStalls: Garter, as foon as the Sovereign, or his Lieute-nant, is placed, makes again the ufual Reverence in themiddle of xht Choir ; then turns to the Senior Knights, anddoth his Reverence to each of them ; whereupon, at oneInftanr, they make their double Reverences below, wherethey ftood, and ftrait afcend at rhe firft, or weftern En-trance, that goes to the fide Stalls; where beingaspived,they make again their double Reverences, and thep featthemfelves. But when the Sovereign’s Lieutenant-is pre-fent, each Knight adds a third Reverence to him, both
