Stall, and turning toward the High Altar, makes humbleObeyfance tfhat way, and then toward the Sovereign, orifablenr,toward his Stall; which done,the Commiffioners,Knights-Affiftants, or Knights-Companions, receive andembrace him with great Civility, as their Fellow and Com-panion, and fet him down in his afiigned Stall with Pro-feffions of Efteem, and Willies for his Honour and Hap-pinefs. Of this Ceremony, there is a notable Inltance atthe Inftallation of Philip, King of Cajlile, 22 Hemp VII.where the Sovereign perfonally introduced him to hisStall, and tfrere placed him, at which time there was a cer-tain Form of Words pronounced relating to the elcdhKnight’s Seffion, and A$ of Inftallation, no lefs than athis Inveftiture, but the fame are not repeated.

The Order to be obferved when two or more Knightsrtre inflalled in one Day*

In this cafe it feems to have been the ancientPractice, when the Ceremony has been perform’d by twoCommiffioners, or two Knights-Affiftants, that as foonas they had finilhed all the Ceremonies due to the Seniorofthem, they left him polfeft of his Stall, and forthwithreturned to the Chapter-Houfe in the usual manner, andthence conduced the next Senior elecSt Knighr, and fo ofthe reft,* So it was at the Inftallation of Albro Vafquesd’Almadea, Earl of Averenches, the Lord Beauchamp, andSir Thomas Hoo, in the time of Henry VI. and fo of theEnd of Huntington, 1 Edw.Vl. when the two Affiftants,after they had inverted and inftalled the fa id Earl, retur-ned to the Chapter-Houfe for the Lord la War, and fofor the Lord Cobham, and Sir William Herbert. In likemanner, when the Commiffioners had given the Protftor toEmanuel, Duke of Savoy, Poffeffion of his Principal’s Stall,1 and 2 Phil, and Mar. they proceeded back for Wiliamlord Howard ; fo by the Earl of Pembrool 16 Eli%.when they had firft inftalled the Earl of Derby, and bythe Earl of Cumberland, after the Earl of Shrewsbury hadbc p n inftalled.
