College alternately, by the Name of Cuflos, Dean andCuftos, or laftly of Dean only} and doubting thisVariation of Titles in Time might bring Inconvenien-ces upon the Foundation, petition’d the Parliament,

VI. whereupon the King, by Letters Patent un-der the Great Seal, granted that the laid John Ihouldbe Cujlos Jive Decanus for Life, and his Succeflors Cujlodesfive Decani, Wardens or Deans of the Free Chapel ofSt. George , within the Callle of JVindfor j and that theCuflos, or Dean and Canons thereof, and their Succel-fors, by that Appellation, Ihould have and hold, tothem and their Succeflors for ever, all Lands, Tene-ments, ere. Liberties, ere. devolv’d upon the Collegeat any Time before: So that here was a kind of newIncorporation, by the Title of Cuflos, or Deans andCanons only$ at leaft this was- a great Step to com-pleat the Privilege they after enjoy’d, when thro’ theIntereft of Richard Beauchamp , Bifhop of Salisbury, thenalfo Dean of Wind for, and Chancellor of the Order,King EdiSt IV. by Letters Patent dated Dec. 6. in the19th Year of his Reign, model’d them by the Name ofDean and Canons of the Free Chapel of St. Georgewithin the Caftle of Windfor, one Body corporate inThing and Name, with a perpetual Succeffion, and ca-pable in Law to purchafe, receive and take Lands, err,in Fee and Perpetuity 5 to have a common Seal, andmight plead and be impleaded by that Name ; and forbetter Security, the Letters Patent of Incorporationwere, within Three Years after, pafs’d into an A£t ofParliament now in force.

The Authority of the Cuflos or Dean confifls inbeing Prefident over the reft of the College ; to go-vern, direct and order them their Goods and Eflates.He has all manner of Ecclefiaftical Jurifdidtion overthem, with a Refervation of Power of Appeal to theChancellor of England, who is Vifitor of that College.

When any Perfons lead Lives inordinate, he withthe Chapter (in Cafes where no particular Penalty isappointed ) may reprehend or corre£l at Difcretion 5and in Matters of Difcord, Ihall within Eight Days re-concile the contending Parties, or do Juftice. Afterthrice Admonition, may expel from the College all
