HAARLEM.
HAARLEM is one of the most interesting cities in Holland,not only on account of its remarkable history, but also fromits peculiarly neat appearance. It is almost unrivalled forthe perfect cleanliness of its streets, many of which are ofhandsome width, and the houses large and well built. Thereis also a greater look of comfort and wealth about its inhabitantsthan in the other cities of Holland. The annexed view, takenfrom the Turfmarkt, will give an idea of the most prevalentfeatures of Dutch towns, the streets being every where inter-sected by canals bordered with trees. In the back ground isthe great church, famed for being the largest in Holland, butbetter known from its possessing the finest organ in the world.This astonishing instrument is 108 feet high and 50 wide,and contains nearly 5,000 pipes, the largest of which is 32feet in length.
