OUDE-KEKK, DELFH

DELFP is one of the most ancient cities of Holland. Itformerly contained about 22,000 inhabitants, and held thethird rank in the assembly of the states. With the diminutionof its trade, and principally of its porcelain manufactory, itspopulation has gradually decreased to 10,000. The Oude-Kerkand the Niewe-Kerk are the two principal churches for theestablished religion. The old church, which forms the subject ofthe annexed view, is remarkably picturesque, and exhibits somebeautiful and rare specimens of the gothic style. Amidst otherinteresting monuments, it contains that of Van Tronip. Wil-liam the First, Prince of Orange, was assassinated in a housecontiguous to this church.
